OUTDOOR PARTY HIRE, ISLE OF WIGHT

We’ve been hiring to thousands of parties and events across the Island since 2013 and have always held safety at the core of everything we do. This is even more important when setting up outdoors for parties than for indoors. Between the beginning of April and the end of September is our main outdoor party season although we do have some items that can be setup outdoors later into the year. Outdoor hire is by far the most popular option and if you have the space in your garden then it's an ideal venue. If not then there are some venues for hire across the Island that offer an outdoor space that are worth considering.

Why choose outdoor hire?

First things first, if we can set it up indoors it can be setup outdoors with only a few exceptions. Outdoor hire is preferable in lots of ways but setting up outdoors generally means more space around an inflatable and in addition a softer landing area. It also means we can secure your castle a lot better. With the pegs we use we can create nearly a tonne of pressure to hold an inflatable in place, some of our units have nearly 4 tonnes of pressure securing them to the ground. We can also hire to you a lot later, up to 7pm for a childrens castle and late into the evening or even overnight for adult units.

Why choose us?

We are the only company on the Isle of Wight with industry and HSE recognised qualifications in the setup and operation of inflatables and have been since 2018, not long after the qualification was created. We then repeated the course in 2021 as a refresher as part of an ongoing effort from the industry to promote safe hiring across the country. We are also members of the 'South West of England Professional Hirers Group', an industry group that includes and recognises only the very best companies from the south and encourages good and safe practices in all aspects of hire.

At JJ's, we constantly measure windspeeds and during the summer months are monitoring on a near daily basis on the run up yo your hire as well as and when hires are happening. You'll also notice we measure the pressure on our inflatables prior to your hire. This is a requirement of insurance compliance to make sure your inflatable is operating at peak efficiency.

Setting up

  • Anchors

We are required to secure inflatables outdoors, regardless of the weather predictions for the day with 1600 Newtons or 163kg of pressure which needs to be achieved on each anchor point. How do we do this? With industry standard 16mm thick, 380mm long curve topped ground anchors. Actually the majority of our pegs are 430mm long for added reassurance. What we need to know from you is if any utilities are beneath the surface of the ground that we might hit. Think about this when planning where you would like your inflatables set up.

  • Surfaces

Before we arrive, remember we only setup on short cut grass surfaces, not AstroTurf, paving slabs, gravel, concrete, tarmac, dirt or anything other than real grass. Why? Well, remember I said above about needing to achieve all that pressure per anchor point. That prevents us from setting up on almost every other surface than grass. The grass needs to be short so any hidden hazards are revealed and avoided. Concrete is possible but requires, among other things, special anchors which incurs further costs to you so is best avoided. We would require a tonne of sand just for a basic setup of one unit which is an unfeasible option in most cases.

We also require a flat surface, especially for slides which require an absolutely flat surface. A slight incline for most other, non slide inflatables up to 3 degrees is acceptable

  • Access

This is important both before and on the day of the hire. For most inflatables we require vehicle access as close as possible and an unimpeded 3ft access route to the setup area. This needs to be kept clear for arrival to setup but also at the end for collection. If there is clutter along the route this will need to be cleared prior to arrival. Inflatables cannot be carried and must be able to be wheeled in and out on our sack trucks. We need to know if there are any steps and if so, how many?

  • Power

We only use the best cables on the market, not cables on reels that could be bought in the centre aisle at your local supermarket or a home improvement retailer. Why? Well simply put it's a requirement of insurance to supply commercial quality equipment under hire. We actually make all our own wires in-house and they are tested independently by a qualified electrician.

For your hire we can only connect our cables to a mains power supply and not from an extension lead. If we are setting up more than 20 meters away from a mains power supply then we will need to know in advance to ensure we have enough cable with us on the day.

Making sure you have enough to entertain your guests

When planning your outdoor party it’s important to think about how much equipment you’ve hired v’s the amount of guest users you’ve invited. Most bouncy Castles can only accommodate around 7-10 users at a time. Except for our JJ'iant Bouncer which can accommodate up to 17 users at a time, or our 70ft Obstacle Course which can accommodate a whopping 24 users at a time! With a slide castle you’ll get a better rotation of children as they come off the slide and have to get back on again. The best solution is Add-Ons. Take a look at the Games section of our website for ideas on how to entertain all of the children and even the adults too.

As well as everything above we also offer a selection of games add-ons starting from just £10! Games offer children and adults the chance to interact in a variety of different ways which is a great way to break down social barriers and develop interpersonal skills. Some games are better suited to different age groups so it's best to enquire when booking which games might best suit your unique guest profile.

Face Painting

A great option for outdoor parties as well as indoor parties but face paint can permanently stain a castle so we just need to check a few things before we can allow face paints to be used at one of our parties. We have to be strict on this because if done without proper checks then you, the customer, becomes liable for cleaning or even a replacement castle. Luckily, we know what we are doing and so as long as we follow the rules then there isn't a problem and it's a great addition to have at any party. Make sure to let us know when you book but we will ask you anyway.

Ok, that's about it. The time has come to book your party! Click the button below and lets get this party started!
