Our Terms and Conditions of Hire
In order to comply with our liability insurance we must be able to provide them with a signed copy of our written terms and conditions should a claim arise. This is standard practice within the industry and has been for many years. If you have never had to sign for your party hire equipment then the company you've hired from has never been able to comply with the terms of their own liability insurance. Beware of Cowboys!
We are members of the trading standards approved scheme here on the Island which is there to provide you, the customer, with reassurance that we run our business professionally. It is not an easy scheme to become a member of. Our business is scrutinised and our customers are written to in order to get an accurate account of our business. This is our full time profession, we really enjoy it! We are also the only Island company to be qualified in the inflation and operation of inflatable play equipment for which Jon has two nationally recognised qualifications. Safety is key to everything we do and we think it shows. Please read our full terms and conditions when hiring from us. Below is a copy of our outlined terms and conditions. For a copy of our full terms and conditions please contact us directly.

In addition to the T&C's listed here we strongly advise reading through our FAQ's page which clarifies some of the points below further. Please ensure the delivery driver has free and easy access to erect the inflatable onto a clean flat lawn. Please be advised that if we arrive and there is insufficient space or the area is unsuitable, (e.g. sloping or unclean) full payment still has to be made. We reserve the right to cancel any booking at any time, i.e. in really bad weather or safety reasons.
2. Bouncy Castles are strictly for children under 12 excepting where stated otherwise bouncy castles which are suitable for all ages. Any person taller than the inside wall is not permitted to use it. Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES should PARENTS/CARERS ENTER ONTO the inflatable (excluding the bouncy castles stated as suitable for persons aged 13+) as this may result in damage to the unit. Any damage will have to be paid for by the hirer named on the agreement. The driver is to be paid upon delivery of the unit unless payment has been made in advance by prior arrangement.
3. No signs are to be glued, taped or hung onto the unit at all.
4. When ride-on's are hired (such as Didi cars) parental supervision is required. Care must be taken when children get on and off and children need to be careful to keep their feet away from the wheels at all times.
5. In the event of serious accident, in order to comply with our insurance conditions, professional advice must be sought within 1 hour of the injury occurring as reports are likely to be requested by the insurance company if claims arise.
6. You must ensure that there is adequate (over the age of 18 years) supervision at all times when the equipment is in use. Equipment cannot be left unattended. The supervising persons must not be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
7. It is advisable to ensure that no one with any history of heart, back or neck problems, high blood pressure, joint or bone weakness use the inflatables. Please consult with a medical professional for guidance. Nobody that is pregnant is allowed to use the inflatables. Any person who feels unwell should be removed immediately.
8. Children must remove their shoes before using any inflatable or soft play equipment and MUST be prevented from climbing up walls/barriers. For hygiene reasons it is advised that socks are worn at all times.
9. Do not allow anyone to bounce on the front safety step of the inflatable as a child could easily bounce off the equipment and get hurt. The step is only there to assist users to mount and dismount the equipment.
10. Food, chewing gum, drink, drinking glasses, belts and pets are forbidden on all the units.
11. No smoking, fires or barbeques to be used near the equipment.
12. The Hirer is responsible for safe keeping of the hire equipment and will be charged for any damage caused or for any items missing upon collection. Any damage caused to the equipment will be charged at an appropriate amount, i.e. cost or repair / replacement.
13. Soft play equipment is for pre school aged children up to and including the age of 5 years.
14. No children who have been face-painted can use the equipment unless the face paint and face painter has been approved by us. This is due to some brands of face paint which can cause staining to units. We test all paints prior to a hire. We will require to see a valid certificate of insurance from the face artist prior to the hire date if they are not already pre-approved.
15. Equipment returned in a dirty condition, as deemed by JJ’s Parties and Events at the time of collection, may be subject to a minimum £50 cleaning charge to be paid within 7 days of the party / event.
16. No party poppers, streamers, silly string or confetti filled balloons to be used on or near the equipment.
17. For safety reasons no water or bubbles should be sprayed / blown onto the equipment.
18. All units are checked on delivery and your signing below indicates acceptance of the inflatable and/or equipment as being in good, clean condition. Do not deflate equipment prior to collection unless instructed to do so by a member of the JJ's staff.
19. Only our delivery driver is authorised to move or collect the inflatable(s) and/or equipment. Under no circumstances should any of the equipment be moved by you the hirer once setup is complete and/or handed over to anyone other than our delivery driver at the end of the hire. If you are unsure if the person collecting is an employee of JJ's Parties & Events, please ask them to confirm your booking reference number. If they don't know it, then they are not employed by us.
20. Stolen items will be charged at an appropriate amount, i.e. full cost of replacement including delivery and loss of earnings while we await delivery of the replacement equipment.
21. Extreme caution is to be taken with extension cables and the electric blower. The blower is NOT to be covered with anything.
22. Ensure that the inflatable is not overcrowded and limit the numbers depending on age and size of children using it. If the children are colliding into each other then it is too crowded. The safe number of children on an inflatable at any one time is stated clearly on the side of the castle. PARENTAL SUPERVISION IS NECESSARY and common sense should be used.
23. Try to avoid large children and small children from using the inflatable/s at the same time. Some children require strict supervision.
24. If hiring the inflatable up and over slide or any inflatable with a slide, please remember this is a slide and is not for bouncing. Ensure nobody climbs the walls of the slide or the slide itself as this can lead to injury.
25. You “the Hirer” must ensure units remain staked down at all times for outdoor hire. Occasionally check the unit to ensure it is still securely staked down. Do not move the inflatable/s at any time. For indoor hire castles may drift which will put them out of sync with crash mats as well as affecting airflow from the blower and so inflatables should be monitored and corrected throughout the hire.
26. In the event that the blower stops working, please ensure all users get off the equipment immediately. Check fuses and make sure that the blower tube or deflation tube has not come undone or that something has not blown onto the blower and is obstructing it.
27. Stop any horseplay. No somersaults, fighting, pushing, wrestling, or any other behaviour likely to cause injury.
28. During inflation / deflation do not allow anybody on the inflatable as this is DANGEROUS. Do not switch off the inflatables unless instructed to do so by a member of our staff.
29. Only use electrical equipment provided by us. Do not allow any person to interfere with, adjust or repair any electrical item, even if qualified to do so.
30. Any person under the influence of drink/drugs should not be allowed to use the inflatable.
31. Do not use in high wind or very bad weather. Inflatables MUST NOT be used in wind speeds in excess of 24 miles per hour. If wind gusts are forecast exceeding 24 miles per hour, we will have no choice but to cancel any outdoor hires as this is DANGEROUS.
32. Care should be taken with children entering and exiting ball pools. Do not allow any persons to stand or sit on the side. Diving or jumping into the ball pool MUST NOT be allowed.
33. Soft play is predominantly for indoor use unless by special arrangement. It MUST NOT get wet so if it is outdoors and rain occurs, please ensure it is covered or move it to shelter.
34. JJ's Parties and Events accepts no responsibility regarding photography of children using equipment at your event.
35. It is the responsibility of the hirer to collect ball pool balls into the nets provided at the end of the hire. There is a £30 charge for ball collection should you wish to include that option in your hire, or should you fail to collect up the balls as stated by the end of the hire period.
36. It is the responsibility of the hirer to inform JJ’s Parties and Events of the location of any underground pipes or cables that could be damaged or cause injury if interfered with by the ground stakes used when securing an inflatable.

They should only be aimed and fired at the targets provided and no guns should be aimed at the targets when there are people inside the shooting area. Guns should never be left unattended. 6 - 17 year olds are allowed to participate with parent or guardian or nominated persons over the age of eighteen supervision. It is the hirers responsibility to nominate suitable supervisors. The minimum age for any participant is 6 years. A qualified first aider must be present at the site at all times who will not be provided by JJ's Parties and Events
38. You, the hirer agrees to abide by our terms and conditions of hire listed above and any other operating and safety instructions provided at the time of hire.

40. DISCLAIMER
ALL PERSONS USING THIS EQUIPMENT DO SO AT THEIR OWN RISK
The person or organisation responsible for hiring the inflatable(s) or equipment will be responsible/ liable for any damage or injury occurring from or as a result of misuse or reckless use.
These guidelines are for the safety of all people using this equipment and it is the sole responsibility of the hirer to ensure they are adhered to. Our company cannot accept any responsibility for any injury or damage caused to property or persons using this equipment.
Public Liability Insurance is excluded in its entirety following any claim or injury to any third party or employee whether directly or indirectly related to the use of drugs and/or alcohol. JJ’s Parties and Events excludes any liability for injury loss or damage caused to any person using the equipment contrary to the terms and conditions of this contract.
41. IMPORTANT NOTICE
Provided that the equipment is used in accordance with the above guidelines and conditions of hire, those using the inflatable and/or equipment should do so safely. However, accidents can happen. JJ’s Parties and Events can accept no liability for injuries sustained or any other loss, howsoever caused in the absence or negligence of the hirer (individual or organisation) or their employees. As the equipment will be in the hirers possession and control whilst in use rather than JJ’s Parties and Events, any liability for injuries or other losses caused other than in the circumstances described above rests with the hirer. Accordingly, it is strongly recommended that the hirer has adequate public liability insurance covering his or her liability arising from the use of the inflatable.
This does not affect your statutory rights.
42. Payments
42.1 Booking Confirmation Payments - For the majority of bookings with a hire value less than £200 a minimum £30 upfront booking confirmation payment is required, for bookings exceeding £200 a minimum 20% booking confirmation payment is required. Wedding bookings require a 20% booking confirmation payment upfront. Booking Confirmation Payments are taken from the overall total of the hire value and are NOT an additional payment. Booking confirmation payments are required for all bookings and are non-refundable. Your booking confirmation payment secures items hired for your party or event in our diary until the date of your booking. In that time we may turn away several customers requesting the same equipment on the same date. Booking confirmation payments are kept upon cancellation to help contribute towards the loss in business should a cancellation occur. However, booking confirmation payments are transferrable and if you do need to transfer your booking confirmation payment to another booking you may do so once only for a future booking that must be on or before 6 calendar months of the original date the booking was placed. For example, a booking made on the 12th January 2020 with a party date of the 1st February 2020 that then needed to postpone could have it's booking confirmation payment transferred to a second party on or before the 12th July 2020 or be lost. Booking confirmation payments can only be transferred once or are lost. Your booking confirmation payment secures items hired for your party in our diary until the date of your booking. In that time we may turn away several customers requesting the same equipment on the same date. Booking confirmation payments are kept to help contribute towards the loss in business.
42.2 Payments - Aside from 'booking confirmation payments' (see 42.1) which are taken from the overall value of the booking hire and are NOT an additional fee, payment of your equipment hire and/or staff hire is due prior to the setup of equipment. Any remaining balance not paid prior to the hire date or on the day, prior to setup can result in the immediate cancellation and loss of any monies paid.
42.3 Cancellations - Failure to give enough notice of cancellation to us will result in the requirement of you to pay any remaining outstanding balance payments immediately. The minimum notice period required by you to us is 24 hours prior to the hire to avoid full payment except for wedding bookings which must give 3 weeks notice prior to the hire date.
Sometimes, in the case of bad weather or unsuitable setup conditions such as poor or inadequate setup areas and for safety reasons we may also need to either cancel or move your equipment hire. In such cases we will always try and provide either an event date transfer or alternative equipment hire for the original date. Should there be a difference in cost to you we will at our discretion, try and ensure you don't pay more. Generally in these scenarios, you the customer tends to benefit in equipment hire value.
